December 21

The first words spoken to the shepherds that night were “Don’t be afraid”. Those words mattered. The shepherds were ordinary people. They were overworked and living under the weight of political tension and economic uncertainty. Fear was part of their everyday lives.

The same as it is for us today.

Our world, right now, is filled with uncertainty. We have concerns about our finances, our safety, our communities, and the turmoil everywhere. Some days fear seems like a constant companion. And still, the angel’s message breaks through, saying, “Don’t be afraid.” God’s presence transforms fear into Joy.

The shepherds heard the good news and responded. They followed the light and shared what they had seen. We have also been given the good news. And we are invited to listen and respond. Sometimes that response is offering a helping hand. Sometimes, it’s sharing kindness or encouragement. And sometimes it’s pausing to let God refill our spiritual strength.

God has given us a savior. We can and must step out in faith. We can and must carry the angel’s message into the lives of others so that they can live without fear.

Prayer: God of light and love, thank You for breaking through our fears with Your good news. Amen.
