Day 358

Scripture:

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.

– Psalm 100:1-5

I like to call The Year of Prayer Daily Devotional my “reminder to be a Christian.” There was an important lesson in each day’s scripture, prayer, and petition. It was a wonderful way to “wake up the soul” every morning.

I have had the privilege of working with the staff of First Methodist this past year on a number of projects; especially with the Trustees of the Foundation. I thank God for each and every one of them and for the special talents He has given them. Verse 5 concludes, “His faithfulness continues through all generations.” I praise God for the generations of witnesses who have walked through the doors of First Methodist and made our Church possible today. Next time you walk through the door, think of yourself “entering His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise.” – Bill Scheel
