Pastor Lance Richards was appointed as senior pastor at First Methodist Houston in July 2022. He came from a stint as lead pastor at Tarrytown United Methodist in Austin, TX, where he worked to help revitalize one of Austin’s most historic churches. He has served four churches as senior pastor, and in each appointment has navigated difficult transitions, grown worship attendance, launched contemporary worship services, and has been active in the Texas Annual Conference. He has strengths in strategic planning, educational technology, and as a professional coach.

Lance completed undergraduate and masters degrees in Agriculture at Texas A&M and has a Master of Divinity from Duke Divinity School. Pastor Lance is married to his wife Rachael, and has two young sons, Nathaniel and Gabriel.
