Let There Be Light—Inside and Out

Scripture of the Week:
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” – John 1:5

Hello,
Thank you to everyone who attended the State of the Church or has watched it online. At the end of the meeting, we asked folks to let us know if there was a certain piece they wanted to help us with, and we have received 109 responses so far! We are reaching out to folks this week and hoping to make some headway quickly.

Speaking of quick headway, I’m excited to share that we have received a matching gift for the exterior lighting of the church! This gift will be given up to $32,500, to help us raise the $65,000 of the lighting equipment! That means every dollar you give will be doubled by this gift. Below, you can see the pictures of what our church looks like at night, and what it could look like later this year. It’s one layer of a multi-step approach to reintroduce ourselves to the city, and to show Houston we’re here for them.

If you would like to take advantage of this matching gift, you can click here. Make sure you choose “lighting” from the dropdown menu. If we raise more than $65,000, we’ll use the funds to cover the labor costs, and if we receive any additional gifts above and beyond the total cost of the project, we’ll place that money in a fund for the kitchen renovation.

At the meeting, we mentioned how our efforts connect with the goals of the Strategic Plan. I’m happy to share that we can check two more goals off the list: an annual student-led Sunday, and quarterly family hang outs. I was uplifted by our students this past Sunday and hope you were too. It only takes a small flame to light up the dark, friends. There’s a lot going on in our world right now. Keep on the lookout for all the sparks of light, and let’s be thankful for each and every one.
