Guided by God, Growing Together

Hello,

Please join me in lifting a prayer for Iglesia Generaciones, which begins its weekly worship services at our West Campus this Sunday.

Image Yesterday morning I was thinking about that verse from Psalm 23, “Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4b). The rod was used for protection, it was a weapon against wild dogs or wolves. It’s easy to see how the idea of Gods being our protector is a comforting thought. But King David mentioned a staff too. And the shepherd’s staff, with a curved end, was used by the shepherd to wrap around the sheep and pull the sheep back in when it was going astray. I wonder if we join David in thinking of that as a great source of comfort. Sometimes when God has redirected me, it has felt like I was being yanked from something I was sure about. I want my walk with Jesus to be such that when that happens, I’m deeply comforted by it, knowing that God can see the lay of the land much better than I can, and is always working for my good.

On September 14th, after worship, all families with kids are invited to join us for Pizza in the Park. Feel free to sign up here. There’s no agenda here, just free lunch and a chance to visit with other church families.
Also, if you have a prayer request you’d like to share, either with the pastors or the prayer team, you can send your prayer request through:
The First Methodist Houston app in the Google Play Store or Apple Store
Online https://my.fmhouston.com/PrayerRequest.
If you need to speak to a pastor immediately, please call our Pastor on Call Hotline at 877-772-0577.
I look forward to worshiping with you this Sunday, when we’ll start looking at how the Fingerprints of God can be seen on our lives.

Grace and Peace,
Pastor Lindsay Kirkpatrick
