“Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.”
— Proverbs 3:9–10
First Fruit
This fall, we invite you to join us in our First Fruits Stewardship Campaign—a season of prayer, worship, and commitment as we reflect on God’s abundant blessings and respond with grateful hearts.
At First Methodist Houston, our mission is putting God’s love into action to gather, get connected, grow, go, and give. This campaign is a way for us to live out that calling together—offering the first and best of our time, talents, and treasure back to God.
The Bible teaches us that everything we have comes from the Lord. Stewardship is not only about finances; it is about worship, generosity, service, and sharing the good news of Christ. Over four Sundays in October, we will journey through what it means to give God our first fruits in every part of life.
Gather
October 5 – World Communion Sunday
We begin by gathering with the worldwide church to lift our voices in thanksgiving. As we share communion, we remember that we belong to one global family of faith, called to give God our very best.
Give
October 12
Every good gift comes from above. As God’s people, we bring our first fruits—not our leftovers—to honor Him and to trust His provision.
Go
October 19 – NIA Sunday
Jesus tells us that when we serve “the least of these,” we serve Him. This Sunday, we remember that stewardship includes action—going out to love and serve others.
Get Connected
October 26 – Commitment Sunday
Paul’s words remind us to be bold in living and sharing our faith. As stewards of God’s grace, we invite others to experience the hope and salvation found in Christ.
Why “First Fruit”?
In Scripture, God’s people were called to bring the first fruits of their harvest to the Lord—not the leftovers, but the best. In the same way, we are called to put God first in our lives. When we do, everything else falls into place.
This stewardship campaign is more than a financial commitment—it is a spiritual journey of gratitude, generosity, and growth. Together, let’s put God’s love into action as we gather, get connected, grow, go, and give.
