Scripture of the Week:
“Whenever anyone asks you to speak of your hope, be ready to defend it.”
– 1 Peter 3:15b
Hello,
A couple days ago, our church staff had a staff development day. We took a tour of downtown Houston, we ate lunch together. We walked through Discovery Green, and then Annunciation Catholic Church was kind enough to let us use their sanctuary to have our own devotional and prayer time. As we were about to begin our devotional on Philippians 2:1-11, a member of their church came forward and offered to answer any questions we had about the church. What followed was a flood of information about his faith and how the church helps strengthen and enliven it. Any questions we had, he was ready, and could go back multiple centuries to explain its origins. And it was convicting to a number of us – how ready are we to joyfully share details of our faith and how Christ works and speaks in our lives? He lives his life as a testimony, and it was so encouraging to the people around him. I hope the same can be said of me, and of all of us!
On October 26th, you’re encouraged to bring a decorated pumpkin to a contest we’ll be having in the lobby. On November 12th, we’ll have our first monthly board game day for seniors – register below.
So far, we’ve raised about $54,000 of the $65,000 we only need $11,000 more for lighting equipment and extra for labor, you can click here and choose the “lighting” option in the dropdown menu if you’d like to help us reach our goal. And if you’d like to listen to sermons in a podcast format, you can click here to find our sermons podcast.
On October 19th will be NIA Sunday, when we’ll celebrate the legacy and continuing impact of this incredible church ministry. And we have a special invitation – we’d love for you to take the 10 minute drive out to NIA after worship on the 19th for a free lunch and tour of NIA. Whether you want to become a prayer partner, volunteer from time to time, or just see the ministry, we’d love to have you join us. Click here to sign up! I look forward to worshiping with you on Sunday!
