February 1 and Beyond
Scripture Reading: Ephesians 3:1-21
Key Verses: Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. – Ephesians 3:20-21, NRSV
Earlier in this prayer journey by looking at Moses’ journey as he led the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt towards Canaan, the Promised Land. Did you notice that Moses never entered into Canaan? All those years of hardships – facing the Red Sea with Pharaoh’s army right behind him, listening to the Israelites complain about what they were going to eat and drink, nearing the Promised Land only for the people refuse to enter it because of fear, and then wandering around the desert for 40 years – and Moses died before the people crossed over the Jordan River. Through all the ups and downs, Moses kept the faith; and, we read in Hebrews that God recognized and commended Moses for his faithfulness.
Faith has been a key part of this month-long prayer journey. We had faith that God’s best future for First Houston United Methodist Church is ahead of us, that God hears our prayers, and that He answers them. As we work through the insights you shared with the church this month, we do so with faith that God continues to walk beside us each step of our journey. How awesome that God wants to work through our church to accomplish abundantly far more than we can ask or imagine!
Pray:
