MESSAGE FROM PASTOR LANCE
May 17, 2025
Stay up to date with all that’s happening at First Methodist Houston.
Dear Church Family,
“See, I am making all things new.” This single sentence from Revelation 21:5 echoes with hope, restoration, and promise. Spoken from the throne of heaven, it’s not just an observation—it’s a declaration. God is not done. Not with the world. Not with us. God is making all things new.
This Sunday, that promise comes to life among us in a powerful way. It’s Confirmation Sunday, and two of our young people will stand before the church to profess their faith in Christ. In a world of uncertainty and change, they are claiming a new identity—covered by grace, sealed by the Spirit, and rooted in love.
Their confirmation is more than a rite of passage; it is a testimony to Christ’s resurrection power. God is making all things new—in their hearts, in their futures, and in the life of the church.
This season, we’ve been walking through the Book of Revelation as a resurrection vision. Each week has revealed glimpses of God’s throne room: of worship, of healing, and of hope. This Sunday’s reading shows us the ultimate fulfillment: a new heaven and a new earth, where death is no more, and every tear is wiped away.
But it’s not only about the future. It’s about now. That same creative, redemptive voice is still speaking: “See, I am making all things new.” Can you hear it in the joyful commitment of our confirmands? Can you see it in the faithfulness of a church who has walked beside them? Can you believe it for your own life?
May this Sunday remind all of us that God is at work—even in what feels broken, uncertain, or unfinished. Let’s celebrate the new thing God is doing among us—and step forward with renewed faith.
“See, I am making all things new.”
May we live into that promise.
See you Sunday!
Yours in Christ,
Pastor Lance
