“For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will guide them to springs of the water of life, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” – Revelation 7:17
Dear Church Family,
Today at First Methodist Houston, we continue our Eastertide series All Things New: A Resurrection Vision by turning our attention to the breathtaking scene in Revelation 7—a vision of heaven where the Lamb is not only on the throne, but also among the people, gently leading and tenderly caring for them. It’s a powerful image of Jesus as both Redeemer and Shepherd: the one who saves and the one who stays.
The timing of this passage could not be more fitting. Today is both Mother’s Day and Senior Sunday—a time when we honor those who have nurtured and guided us, and we bless those who are stepping out into the next chapter of their lives. These occasions remind us how important it is to have a steady shepherd at the center through life’s changes. Whether we are watching our children graduate, walking through new seasons of parenting, or preparing to leave home and find our way, the message of Revelation 7 is clear: You are not alone.
Jesus, the Lamb who gave himself for us, now goes before us as our Shepherd—guiding us, comforting us, and leading us to springs of life. In seasons of joy and uncertainty, of celebration and bittersweet change, his presence is faithful and sure.
So to our seniors: as you prepare to step into the unknown, remember that the Shepherd walks with you. To our mothers and mentors: thank you for reflecting the Shepherd’s love with such grace. And to all of us: may we keep the Lamb at the center of our vision, trusting that he is making all things new.
We look forward to worshiping with you this Sunday—centered around the Lamb who leads us, comforts us, and gives us peace.
See you Sunday!
Yours in Christ,
Pastor Lance
