Day 15

Scripture:
But the people refused to listen to Samuel, “No!”, they said. “We want a king over us. Then we will be like all the other nations, with a king to lead us and to go out before us and fight our battles.” When Samuel heard all that the people said, he repeated it before the Lord. The Lord answered, “Listen to them and give them a king.” – 1 Samuel 8:19-22 (NIV)

Israel rejected the Lord’s plans and petitioned Samuel to appoint a king so they would be like the nations around them, and God gave in to their request. They created their own security, and in the end, it proved to be disastrous. When we try to create our own security, there is a cost. We settle for less than what God has planned for us. Ask the Lord to reveal the ways you are creating your own security and making your own way. Ask His forgiveness as He reveals them. Pledge your trust and confess your dependence on Him.

Prayer:
Lord, I trust you. I am unable to make my own way. I confess the areas where I am trying to make my own way. Please forgive me. I am completely dependent on You and You alone.
