First Kids partners with parents to help children experience God, grow in the Christian faith, and share God’s love with the world. We strive to meet children where they are at every stage of development. It is our prayer that each child here at First Methodist:
– Loves God and is empowered to share the love of Christ with others;
– Grow in their understanding of the Christian faith and Scripture;
– Serve as the hands and feet of Christ in the church, in their home, and in the world.

5th and 6th Grade
In 56 at First, our fifth and sixth graders enter a time of curiosity and decisions. We provide a safe place for our kids to explore God’s grace, His character, and the traditions of our faith. They are encouraged to begin applying these lessons to their own Christian lives. At the end of sixth grade, our children are given the opportunity to confirm their faith in Christ.
Downtown 56 meets on the 2nd Floor in room 203 from 9:50 – 11 a.m.
West Campus 56 meets in the Wesley building, Room 149, at 10 a.m.
Confirmation is always a memorable time of commitment and celebration for our students. Confirmands will have the opportunity to attend fun classes that will teach them the foundations of our faith as well as walking them through how to have a personal relationship with God. Upon completion, confirmands will be presented with the opportunity to claim their faith as their own by making a personal proclamation and becoming a member of First Methodist Houston. Contact Courtney Hutchins (DT) or Mandy Jones (West) with questions regarding the upcoming confirmation classes.
