The Book of Luke Image

The Book of Luke

Beginning at the end of August, we are asking everybody who is part of First Methodist to read the Gospel of Luke together. A guide is here and our worship services, online devotionals, and Bible studies all key off of our reading this together. We are also doing a Zoom Sunday School class beginning the first Sunday in September. Plan on taking part!

“The Gospel of Luke” with Andy Nixon

Begins Sunday, September 6 at 10:00 a.m.

Join Pastor Andy Nixon as together you walk  through the Gospel of Luke starting Sunday, September 6 at 10:00 a.m. via Zoom.

Luke’s Gospel is the third of four New Testament Gospels and is traditionally credited to St. Luke, the beloved physician. It is unique in many ways because it gives details of Jesus’s infancy, the census of Caesar Augustus, the journey to Bethlehem, Jesus’ birth and the adoration of the shepherds, Jesus’ circumcision, the words of Simeon, and Jesus at age 12 in the temple talking to the doctors of the law. It is also the only Gospel to give an account of the Ascension.

This study is geared to those who are not currently engaged in a Sunday School Class or other Bible Study. To register, please email [email protected]

School Supply Drive with a Twist

School Supply Drive with a Twist

In years past, we focused on collecting school supplies for Neighbors in Action and our International Friends ministry in the month of July. This year, the situation is unique, due to the pandemic and constantly evolving circumstances. To continue to support to the schools, we will make monetary donations to each ministry instead of school supplies. Each ministry will be able to purchase and distribute items that are most needed at the time of school reopening. If you have participated in our School Supply Drive in the past and would like to this year, you may donate to Missions and designate gift with “School Supplies” in the memo.  For more information, contact Paula Niz.
