Thanksgiving Devotion Nov 15

Scripture: Philippians 4:6
The year 2020 has been hard, and 2019 was hard for me also. We all know about 2020 with the global pandemic, social unrest and many other hardships. In 2019 I lost my beloved brother, Jason, to cancer. It has been hard not to worry. Worry and loss have consumed me at times. However, I try my best to pray and to thank God for all he has done and given me and my family.
Someone once told me to follow the P-R-A-Y initials when praying- Praise, Repent, Ask and Yield. That was good advice. It helps to start with praise and thanksgiving. That is why I love to listen to Christian praise music. It is powerful. The hardest part is the yield, but as we know- God’s will is the best plan. If we yield to it, we will find peace even in very tough times. I pray for our church, our country and those we have lost. I am thankful for all of it.
Prayer: Father – We praise your name and worship you! We shout prayers of thanksgiving for all that you have given us and continue to give to us. Even in times of severe loss, we feel your presence and love, and for that we are thankful. We are sorry for the sins and transgressions in our lives, and for venting our frustrations rather than trusting you. Father- we ask you to help us see the bounty in our lives and be thankful for it. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
