Rev. Donyale Fraylon
Donyale is a native Houstonian and earned an undergraduate degree in Finance from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Following graduation, she returned to Houston and became an active lay leader and teacher at Brookhollow Baptist Church (The Church Without Walls). Nurtured by the church’s solid biblical preaching and teaching, Donyale sensed an overwhelming call to pursue formal theological training to better understand and explain the Scriptures. While working full-time as a CPA, she studied at Dallas Theological Seminary earning a Master of Theology degree. Her seminary studies centered on Bible Exposition and Christian Education underscoring her love for bible teaching and nurturing others toward Christian maturity.
While continuing to serve the local church, Donyale sensed a call to serve in pastoral ministry within the United Methodist Church. In response to this call, Donyale studied at SMU Perkins School of Theology earning a Master of Divinity degree. In May 2019, she was commissioned as a provisional elder in the Texas Annual Conference and was appointed to serve First United Methodist Church – Houston.
In addition to teaching and preaching, Donyale also enjoys spreading the Christian faith through writing. She particularly enjoys writing meditations and devotionals for the Upper Room Magazine.
When not reading, writing, or taking long walks in the park, Donyale is an avid basketball fan and enjoys spending time with her husband, Damon and their son, Dylon Rhodes.
