We are an active group of women eager to serve God and His people as we grow in faith together. With God's help through prayer, Bible study, mission, mentoring, and retreat we can make a difference...each for the other; all for God!

DOWNTOWN SEWING GROUP
This group of dedicated Christian women was formed many years ago at the Downtown Campu. They make items for hospitals, mission trips, and the annual Christmas Bazaar. The newest project is instruction on crocheting prayer shawls for patients. Come learn to crochet or make machine stitched items and stay for fellowship and lunch.

Meet the group in LL9B at 9 a.m. on Thursdays in Room LL9A.

For more information, call Sherrill Mason at 231-485-1049.

SUNDAY BUNCH FOR WIDOWS
Widows meet at the Downtown Campus for lunch the second Sunday of each month and the fourth Sunday of each month at the Westchase Campus for mutual support.  The ladies choose activities and enjoy filling their Sunday afternoon  with wholesome fun.

Activities include potluck lunch, sending out for pizza, taking the train to a restaurant Downtown, having a game day, or visiting a museum together.  The point is to have a support group to share the journey.

All widows are welcome to come and bring their friends.

The Downtown group meets on the second Sunday from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.  For more information call Robin Milutin at 832-668-1827 or rmilutin@fmhouston.com.

The Westchase group meets on the fourth Sunday to go to lunch after Sunday School and then meet at the church for additional fellowship and support. Those who go to the second service usually join the group from 1 - 3 p.m. in the Wesley Academy Library.

For more information, contact Paula Ray at: 281-469-4888 or paularay@yahoo.com. >

LET'S READ
Let’s Read! is for people who love to read and enjoy a discussion of Christian literature from fact to fiction. Each month the group will gather to share their thoughts over lunch in the Hidden Treasures bookstore, just off of the lobby.

Discussions are held on the first Monday of every month at noon in the Hidden Treasures Book Store.

For more information, contact Robin at: rmilutin@fmhouston.com or 832-668-1827.

FIRST PLACE 4 HEALTH
The new series of Bible studies for the First Place 4 Health program will help you focus on surrendering your mind, body, emotions and soul to God. Through daily study and prayer, you will learn how to overcome temptation and find true satisfaction in pleasing God. Lasting change from the inside out begins with Christ!!

First Methodist Houston member Pam Horne, says, ”First Place for Health is so much more than a weight loss or health program. For me it has been a spiritual journey, a building of friendships with Sisters in Christ, and a much needed daily reminder to put God first in all that I do.”

First Place 4 Health is in twelve week series for each new Bible study. Members make a commitment to attend each week for one hour and do the study during the week. The gain for anyone is coming closer to God by learning and studying his word, developing closer relationships with other members, and learning ways to honor God while caring for the body he has given us.

God gave us the power to change our habits when he gave us the power to choose our thoughts. Does Romans 12:2 tell us to be transformed by working hard at it or by sheer willpower? "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind" (Romans 12:2 NIV).Rick Warren

If you wish to attend First Place 4 Health, contact Pam Horne at 713-385-7559 or Robin Milutin at: rmilutin@fmhouston.com or 832-668-1927.

UNITED METHODIST WOMEN
The United Methodist Women (UMW) is organized with the purpose of knowing God, supporting one another, and promoting global missions. The UMW strives to follow Christ's teachings to do acts of justice, mercy, and faith and to serve one another on an equal basis. As Jesus said, "Whoever wants to be first must be last of all and servant of all." Mark 9:35

Our local UMW Unit hosts four General Meetings annually. These meetings are open to all women who share a passion for Christ and His people. While the General Meetings are a wonderful opportunity for the membership at large to gather and affirm our purpose, the real fun takes place in the small groups or Circles.

For more information about our Circles or our local unit of United Methodist Women please contact Charlotte Newton at celainenew@aol.com or 281-980-1918.

CELEBRATION!
Celebration!, an official ministry of the United Methodist Church, Texas Conference, is a woman-to-woman ministry of sharing, encouraging, discipling and mentoring in the faith. Its focus is on presenting the truth and beauty of the message of salvation, healing, renewal and restoration in a manner that reaches the inner woman. Celebration! was founded on Luke 4:18-19, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord." Each Celebration! gathering includes powerful praise and worship, an inspiring message, refreshments, door prizes and more. Admission is free and childcare is provided.

You must experience Celebration! to fully grasp the scope of this exciting ministry. For more information, visit www.celebrationministries.org or call Blanca Velasquez 713-301-5997.

MOMS AT HOME
Moms at Home are women with children of all ages that meet at the church to fellowship, share, and support one another in the very challenging journey of raising little ones in a Christian environment. These ladies usually pick a book to study on alternate Wednesdays. They have just finished The Frazzled Female, Finding God’s Peace in Your Daily Chaos.

While the ladies are taking a summer hiatus, they plan to resume regularly meeting in September. If you are interested in this group, please call Erin Fisk at 281-924-5870. Child care is available with a reservation.

WORKING MOMS
Working Moms is a new group that lifts up and support mothers who must be out of the home and away from their children of various ages.

The ladies will meet every other month during the Sunday School hour and on alternate months they will meet for lunch. Each member will take responsibility for a given month and invite a speaker or an interesting subject pertinent to mothers’ lives.

For more information call Gwen Syzdek at 713-692-7292 or Robin Milutin at: rmilutin@fmhouston.com or 832-668-1827.
