WELCOME TO WOMEN'S MINISTRY - 3
Like seeds planted in good soil, First Methodist Houston's women are growing in the image of Christ through a variety of Women's Ministry opportunities (Luke 8:5-8). We are an active group of women eager to serve God and His people as we grow in faith together. With God's help through prayer, Bible study, mission, mentoring, and retreat we can make a difference...each for the other; all for God!

CELEBRATION!
This official ministry of the United Methodist Church, Texas Conference, is a woman-to-woman ministry of sharing, encouraging, discipling and mentoring in the faith. Its focus is on presenting the truth and beauty of the message of salvation, healing, renewal and restoration in a manner that reaches the inner woman. Celebration was founded on Luke 4:18-19, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord." Each Celebration gathering includes powerful praise and worship, an inspiring message, refreshments, door prizes and more. Admission is free and childcare is provided.
You must experience Celebration to fully grasp the scope of this exciting ministry. For more information, visit www.celebrationministries.org or call Rebecca Pickett 713-502-1421.

UNITED METHODIST WOMEN
UMW is a group of women organized with the purpose of knowing God, supporting each other and promoting global missions through participation. This community strives to follow Christ's teachings to do acts of justice, mercy and faith and to serve one another on an equal basis. As Jesus said, "Whoever wants to be first must be last of all and servant of all." Mark 9:35
Faith and prayer are at the heart of this community. In partnership with God, faith and prayer are powerful enough to move mountains. Over the years, women organized for mission have moved many mountains. During more than a century of service, the organization has grown from the mustard seed of a few women to a fully-branched tree of life with millions of members.
Our local UMW Unit hosts four General Meetings annually. These meetings are open to all women who share a passion for Christ and His people. While the General Meetings are a wonderful opportunity for the membership at large to gather and affirm our purpose, the real fun takes place in the small groups or Circles.
For more information about our Circles or our local unit of United Methodist Women please contact Susan Gallman at 281-256-0696.

WOMEN'S RETREAT MINISTRY
The Retreat Ministry supports women in deepening their relationship with God through the practice of daily personal private prayer and quiet time, through the practice of allied spiritual disciplines and through relationships with others who share like commitments. Each year there are spring and fall weekend retreats.
The remaining 2008 schedule is as follows:
* Fall Retreat - Join us September 26 - 28th for a weekend away with God at the beautiful Heartland Country Inn, Independence, TX near Brenham. Our own Eva Archer Smith will be speaking on the subject of Peace (inner and outer). The title of her talk will be "My Peace I Leave With You": Exploring the Peace That Passes Understanding. Registration will begin the first week of August. More details will follow.
For more information about the ministry please contact Cindy Warren, Lay Director, at: cindy_warren@skillsoft.com.
