Neighbors in Action is an extension ministry of First Methodist Houston and operates as a non-profit organization.  Our ministry to the Port of Houston area began in 1994 as an outreach by the youth department.  In 1998 we began the Wednesday night program PORT, or "People On the Right Track".  In 2004, we incorporated as a non-profit.

Currently, Neighbors in Action coordinates PORT and provides tutoring at Port Houston Elementary, and is active in the Port Houston community in several ways.  We hold a Thanksgiving food drive, provide special Christmas programs, and are in the process of starting a "Women's Micro-Enterprising Program".
