UNITED METHODIST MEN
“Every Man Shares in Evangelism, Mission, and Spiritual Life”
Purpose: United Methodist Men shall be a creative, supportive fellowship of men who seek to know Jesus Christ, to grow spiritually and to seek daily his will. Our primary purpose is to declare the centrality of Christ in the lives of men and in all their relationships.
The General Commission of United Methodist Men is located in Nashville, Tennessee. You may learn more by contacting them at: www.gcumm.org, or the Texas Conference at: www.tcumm.org.
Our local chapter, located at First Methodist Houston's Downtown Campus, began in January, 2000. It is chartered and fully structured with by-laws and rules, that are in full harmony with the discipline of the United Methodist Church. A slate of officers is elected annually that include a: president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, spiritual life leader, publicity chairman, and an immediate past-president. These officers also make up the executive committee.
The motto of United Methodist Men is “Be doers of the word, not hearers only”. Prior to Thanksgiving, we have our annual fundraiser. The profits are donated to our church, and in the last five years we have donated over $12,000 to various ministries.
Our monthly meeting is held on the second Saturday, at 7:30 a.m., in the Fellowship Hall of our Downtown Campus. Our volunteers prepare a full breakfast that some say may be the best in Texas. We stress Christian fellowship and love. All men from ages 12 to 112+ are welcome.
Come Join Us! Reservations are not required.
