HEALTHY SOUL MINISTRY
Healthy Soul can empower you to live a healthy, victorious life. Experience freedom from fears, hurts, negative attitudes and behaviors. Don’t let your past keep you from moving forward. Live purposefully, as the disciple of Jesus Christ that God created you to be. Leo Tyler, Director of Evangelism, Assimilation, and Discipleship at First Methodist Houston is the founder and developer of the Healthy Soul ministry which has seen people’s lives changed through this program at many churches in the greater Houston area.

The Healthy Soul: Your Path to Freedom Seminar
This seminar teaches the Healthy Soul 7-Step Freedom Process to enable you to know and reject your false identity while coming to understand and accept your true identity in Christ.

Testimonies from seminar participants:
“Refreshing. Pulled me back into the light. I SO needed this.”
“Fantastic! I feel free to move forward TODAY.”
“I know I can take back my power through Christ and
overcome my emotional and physical pain through forgiveness
    and healthy behaviors.”
“This has been a 180 degree moment for me. God did an
incredible work and revealed so much life changing truth
     to me this day.”
“This seminar has been absolutely incredible. I feel so
     indescribably positive!”

For information on the upcoming seminars in the Houston area, visit www.healthysoul.org.

The Healthy Soul: 21 Day Adventure
Participant’s lives are changed in 21 days of study and four sessions in small groups with trained coaches. Using Leo Tyler’s workbook, the small group component of the Healthy Soul reinforces the principles learned in the seminar and goes a step beyond so that freedom and healthy living become a way of life. For more information or to register for the next 21-Day Adventure group, contact Leo Tyler at: ltyler@fmhouston.com or 713-458-4704.

HEALING AND PRAYER SERVICES
Each Sunday, at both campuses, Communion and prayer for healing are offered in the chapel following the second worship service. A pastor or prayer minister offers Holy Communion and prays for each individual upon request.

On the second Sunday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Prayer Room of the Worship Center at the Westchase Campus, there is a Healing & Prayer Service. Attend this service on a regular basis and you will witness miracles occurring.

It’s funny. We read with confidence the stories of Jesus’ healings while he walked the earth. We believe that God passed these gifts to his followers as Jesus’ earthly mission concluded. And yet, we often have difficulty seeing the reality that God still offers the world His gift of healing today.

We see miracles every day if we just take the time and effort to recognize them. People witness to the fact that our awareness of God’s healing power often comes with an expanded prayer life. Healing and Prayer are integrally linked.

It does not matter if the hurt is physical, emotional, or spiritual – God loves us and wants to heal all types of hurts and make us whole. Is someone close to you hurting? Please invite them to join us for this very special night of praise and worship, inspiring message and testimonies, Holy Communion, intercessory prayer and anointing of oil.

STEPHEN MINISTRY
Our congregation’s Stephen Ministry equips lay people to provide confidential, one-to-one Christian care to individuals in our congregation and community who are experiencing difficulties in their lives.

A Stephen Minister is:
• A child of God who walks beside a person who is hurting
• A congregation member with gifts for caregiving who is
carefully selected to serve in this role
• A lay person who has received 50 hours of training in providing
   emotional and spiritual care
• A caring, Christian friend who listens, cares, prays, supports,
   and encourages
• Someone who will “be there” for his or her care receiver,
meeting faithfully for about an hour each week, for as
long as there is a need

Stephen Ministers provide the emotional and spiritual care we need when faced with a crisis or difficulty such as:
• Loss of a loved one
• Hospitalization, chronic or terminal illness
• Divorce or separation
• Loneliness or discouragement
• Spiritual crisis
• Unemployment or a job crisis
• Incarceration
• Aging
• Birth, adoption, miscarriage, or infertility
• Recovery after an accident or disaster

If you, or someone you know, could benefit from the care of a Stephen Minister, OR if you are interested in possibly becoming a Stephen Minister, call the Stephen Ministry help-line number: 713-458-4709, and someone will contact you for further information.

GRIEF MINISTRY
The loss of a loved one is devastating no matter how strong our faith may be. It is in these times that we need the support of our church family. First Methodist Houston encourages those who experience a loss to contact the church so we may support you in the healing process. We offer grief support groups on a seasonal basis, grief booklets that offer insight into the grieving process, Stephen Ministry (see related link on this home page), Westchase Crisis Care Ministry for immediate needs, prayer ministry, and pastoral support.

CANCER SUPPORT
First Methodist Houston has been a member congregation of CanCare since 1994. We have trained individuals, themselves survivors of cancer, who volunteer their time to support others going through the same or similar struggles with cancer that they have experienced.

To receive a CanCare volunteer for support for yourself, call CanCare at 713-461-0028. CanCare matches you with a survivor of the same or similar type of cancer that you have so you can talk freely about symptoms, side effects and concerns with someone who understands firsthand because they have been there.

You may request a CanCare volunteer for a friend by calling the same number and providing just the name and phone number of your friend. CanCare calls them that same day, as well as letting you know how they are supporting them.

If you are a cancer survivor, pray about becoming a trained CanCare volunteer.

For more information on CanCare, go to www.cancare.org.

FOSTER PARENT & ADOPTION SUPPORT
If you are touched by foster care, you will enjoy this group called Fostering Faith. It is open to anyone, including those who are fostering, fostering-to-adopt or are considering foster care or foster care adoption. For more information, click here.;
