WELCOME TO YOUTH MINISTRY - WESTCHASE

The mission of First Methodist Houston youth ministry is to connect young hearts to Christ. We seek to create a Christ centered, dynamic gathering place students and friends that is beloved and shared. Drawing straight from scripture (Acts 2:42-47), our values guide our programming. Everything we “do” can be connected to the following: joy, prayer, table fellowship, worship, mission, Bible study and growth.

THE LINK
THE LINK is our Sunday afternoon, cross-campus student gathering. The bus leaves downtown at 12:15 p.m., and we begin with lunch in the Westchase Youth Assembly Room around 12:40 p.m. From 1 - 2:30 p.m., students can choose to be involved in the youth choir, youth bell choir and/or the youth drama team. Also, the youth leadership team meets for prayer and planning at 2 pm. Then, from 2:30 - 4 p.m., all students in grades 6-12 are invited to join us for engaging worship, uplifting and joyful fellowship, and a relevant message, all of which also take place in the Westchase Campus Youth Assembly Room located 3663 Westcenter Dr., 77042. We split up into small groups during the final 20 minutes for prayer and accountability.

Visit our website at www.fmhouston.com/thelink to find more ways to get "linked".

FUEL
FUEL is the high-thrill Junior High experience! This is for ALL sixth through eighth graders and friends. Come for a fun time of games, food, and God’s Word from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday nights in the Westchase Campus Youth Assembly Room, 3663 Westcenter Dr., 77042.

SUNDAY SCHOOL
Sunday School classes gather at both campuses at 10 a.m. Sunday mornings. At the Downtown Campus, 1320 Main St. @ Clay, 77002, we meet on the sixth floor. Come a few minutes early for breakfast and fellowship. The hour begins with Tim Wood leading worship, and then students are split into age-appropriate classes.

The hour is similar at the Westchase Campus, where me meet in the Youth Assembly Room, 3663 Westcenter Dr., 77042. Brian Coats or Audrua Welch facilitate the big-group time, and then students attend junior high or high school classes.

SPECIAL EVENTS
Students can take part in special fundraisers and other singular events throughout the year. Our fundraisers include a pancake breakfast, spaghetti luncheon and stock campaign. Special events include a Super Bowl party, kick-offs for fall and spring school semesters, a Princess Party and M.O.G. (Men of God) lock-in, Bowl-er-Ween and Christmas Fun Festival. Check with the Events Calendar of the website for information on each specific event

RETREATS AND CAMPS
First Methodist Houston students look forward to Fall Retreat every year, as well as Break Thru retreats in the spring for both junior high and high school. In the summer, we attend Student Life Camp.

MISSION TRIPS
First Methodist Houston youth are very active and involved in proclaiming the name of Jesus Christ in word and deed in our community and throughout the world. In the summer, we take a high school mission trip, an all-youth trip and a junior high trip. Check out the Events Calendar for the details on each trip.

CONFIRMATION
Confirmation is a memorable, faith-building rite of passage for sixth grade students at First Methodist Houston. Actually, there are few things in youth ministry that are as important as Confirmation. When young people claim the name Jesus Christ as their own, it is a holy moment. When parents, youth and a church partner to teach and learn the foundations of the faith, it fulfills vows made at baptisms. Confirmation is truly sacred.

For information about specific Confirmation class schedules, check out the Events Calendar of the website.
