What is truly exciting about our Music and Fine Arts Ministry at our Westchase Campus is its rich diversity and its attention to the needs of those families residing in West Houston. We are blessed to sit on 30 acres of land, filled with sprawling green fields; a first class Sports & Recreation facility - the Quillian Center; a school - Wesley Academy; and two beautiful worship spaces: a 2,500 seat Worship Center and concert space, and an intimate, 250 seat, Hinson Chapel. These rooms allow singers, dancers, actors, and instrumentalists of all ages a wonderful opportunity to share their love for Jesus Christ, through their Fine Art.

Since 2000, we have hosted a number of exciting concerts, featuring some of the greatest artists living: the Oakridge Boys, and Ray Price; singers Larnelle Harris, Sandi Patty, CeCe Winans, and Jonathan Pierce; dance ensembles Ballet Magnificat, from Atlanta, and Ballet Grace, from Houston; pianists, Dino, and Joe Sample; Jazz flautist, Hubert Laws; and, the Philadelphia Organ Quartet; West Houston Civic Symphony; Prairie View A&M chorus, directed by Jan Taylor; the Texas Masterworks Chorus, directed by Tom Jaber; the Houston Symphonic Band, directed by Fred Angerstein; the Houston Children's Chorus, directed by Steve Roddy; and, a host of High School and Middle School choirs and instrumental ensembles.

We have also held yearly Art Shows, Coffee Houses, and concerts featuring regional and local artisans, artists, and musicians gifting us with the sights and sounds of our African-American Heritage, our Latin Heritage, and our Oriental Heritage.

Our musicians and actors have also performed full productions of: The Music Man, Godspell, Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Seussical the Musical, How To Eat Like a Child and Never Grow up, The Word on the Street, an original musical, and a host of other wonderful productions.

Annually we host a Hymn Sing with Dr. Gerald Ray, featuring renowned pianists, such as Barbara Bamberg, Marvin Gaspard, Johann Acuña, Steve Roddy, Linda McKechnie, recording artists Cynthia Clawson, Scot Cameron and award winning saxophonist Nathan Woodward.

Our Choir sings at the service each Sunday and for special services during Lent, Easter, Christmas and July 4th. The choir meets each Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 8:30pm in the Choir room to rehearse. We also have an excelling Handbell Choir that meets each Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:00pm in the Choir Room, and the Hand Bell Choir plays throughout the year at Sunday services and other seasonal services. If you love to sing or play hand bells come join us this Wednesday.

On Sunday we have one service that offers both traditional and contemporary music. Join us at 10:30am to enjoy the diverse musical talent that helps make this service very inspirational.

THE BELLS OF WESTCHASE

The Bells of Westchase serves to help enhance the worship experience at the Westchase campus. We rehearse every Wednesday evening at 6:00pm in the bell room, located in the music suite, behind the sanctuary. We perform regularly throughout the church year in both the 8:15 and 10:30am services, and for special occasions such as Christmas, Easter, and July 4th. The Handbell choir does not usually rehearse during the months of July and August.

Under the direction of Todd King, the Handbell choir is comprised of members from the choir, and members of the congregation, but all have a passion for making beautiful music unto the glory of God. The Handbell choir is blessed to have a five octave and three octave set of Schulmerich English Handbells. We also make regular use of our three octave set of Malmark Hand Chimes. We welcome anyone interested to join us for rehearsal. Please feel free to stay and join the choir which rehearses at 7:00pm, in the choir room. We look forward to seeing you.

If you are interested or want more information, please contact Bonnie King by email or 713-458-4799.

WESTCHASE CHORALE

The Westchase Chorale is a vital part of the worship at Westchase. They are a small vocal ensemble taken out of the choir, comprised of staff singers and auditioned singers. They perform monthly in both the 8:15 and 10:30am worship services. The music performed ranges from classical to contemporary. The ensemble also sings for special occasions such as Christmas and Easter, and combines with the handbell choir during the Christmas season for a concert of Lessons and Carols. The Westchase Chorale has a heart for worship and making music.

If you are interested or want more information, please contact Bonnie King by email or 713-458-4799.
