First Methodist Houston has been walking with parents in raising their children for 171 years. As society has changed over the years, so have we, and we are now changing to help you meet the challenges of being a Christian family in the 21st century.
FOR PARENTS AND FAMILIES
Every parent looks forward to those hallmarks of childhood and adolescence that serve to remind us of the passage of time.
The first step, the first Christmas, the first day of Kindergarten, the first date, the first solo drive…joyous moments that make us pause and reflect on the rapid passage of time and the goodness of God. Join us as we celebrate the spiritual rites of passage that help us commit our families to God and our feet to the journey of faith.
We have outlined a path of spiritual formation to help you, as a parent, during each stage of your child’s spiritual life. This path, called FAITHWALK, will serve as a means of guiding your family, your child, your teen on the stepping stones along the pathway of life and faith. Each stepping stone will be celebrated by the child, the family, and the church.
BABY STEPS:Birth to 4 years
Birth, Baptism and learning love
B.I.G. KIDS: K to Second Grade

We will walk beside you on this journey by offering seminars, an extensive library of resources, and weekly family devotionals for each of these stepping stones.
FOR CHILDREN AND TEENS
We are creating experiences and environments, through a wide variety of fun learning styles, that will help children and teens in:
Knowing Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
Understanding and applying God’s Word
Participating actively in serving others within and beyond the church
Learning to worship God personally and corporately
Experiencing the love and fellowship of Christian community
