AFTER SCHOOL CARE

Quillian Recreation Center has been offering quality after-school programs for over 20 years for ages K-8th grade. Currently our buses serve:

Alief ISD, $250* per month (Sneed, Budewig and Outley)
Houston ISD, $275* per month (Briarmeadow, Shadowbriar, Walnut Bend, West Briar and Askew),
Spring Branch, $250*per month (Frostwood and Rummel Creek)
Wesley Academy, $250* per month (drop in care is available for these students)

The Quillian staff has worked very hard to make this a fun and safe program. Our after-school counselors are excited about working with your child! Each day the children are provided with a snack and supervised time for homework. The children will also enjoy time in the game room and gymnasium. Children may stay at Quillian as late as 6:30pm. Facilities also include a cool playground, an indoor climbing wall and swimming pool. All in a well lit and clean atmosphere.

Quillian will offer enrichment opportunities for after school students such as dance, chess, golf, art, rock climbing, drama, and gymnastics. Quillian also offers organized sports programs throughout the year including basketball, soccer, and flag football.

Drop-in care is available during Thanksgiving, Winter and Spring Breaks as well as most school holidays for those registered in the after-school program. If your child is not registered in the after school program, please call in advance to make drop in arrangements for your child care. Drop-in care begins at 7:00 a.m. on selected school holidays.

* Registration fees for our After-School Program is $75 per year.
(Tuition will be pro-rated in August and December)

KID KIX– MARTIAL ARTS AND GYMNASTICS

Martial Arts training will include drills, kicks, punches, and self defense techniques from Shaolin Longfist Kung fu. Physical fitness, self discipline and positive social development are emphasized. Board Breaking All martial arts students will get the opportunity to break a board, decorate it and take it home. Gymnastics instruction includes beginner and intermediate skills on floor, low balance beam, single bar and mini-tramp, including skills from the United States Gymnastics Federation.

Rebecca Galloway has enjoyed teaching in public and private schools and academies for over 17 years. She provided martial arts programs for the Houston Public Library System and the Hempstead Independent School District. She is trained in gymnastic, dance, Chinese martial arts and child development.

When: Tuesdays, September 21- November 16^th

Time: 4:00-4:50 Kindergarten -2nd Grade 4:50-5:40 3rd gr.-6th gr.

Fess: $100 per student

COOKING

Looking for some cooking fun? Enroll your children in our popular cooking class starting on September 23. Children will learn the essential to working in the kitchen, cook light hearted healthy meals and snacks that will keep them coming back for more. After each class the children will get to eat what they have prepared. See you in the kitchen.

When: Thursdays, September 23rd October 28th

Time: 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Fees: $80 per student

AMAZING ATHLETES

Amazing Athletes is a fun-filled ball sports and fitness program designed for kids 3 to 6 years of age. Gross motor activities, muscle tone, physical fitness, two ball sports and various games enhancing hand eye coordination and brain development are compiled into every action-packed 35 minute class. Each week, the focus will be on the basics and fundamentals of two of the nine sports, including soccer, hockey, football, basketball, baseball, volleyball, golf, tennis and lacrosse. This fun and positive learning experience will help the child develop new sports skills as well as instilling self-confidence, good sportsmanship, and team pride.

When: Wednesdays, Session 1: September 8th to 29th and Session 2: October 6th to October 27th

Time: 4:00 to 4:45 p.m.

Fees: $80 per child

ROCK CLIMBING

Children will learn the fundamentals of rock climbing in a fun and energetic atmosphere. Perfect for beginners or experienced climbers. Rock climbing enables children to cope with fear and stress and encourages both self reliance and responsibility. Let your kids take the challenge and embark on a wonderful class.

When: Fridays, October 1^st to October 22^nd

Time: 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Fees: $40 per student
