GRIEFSHARE
The loss of a loved one is devastating no matter how strong our faith may be. It is in these times that we need the support of our church family. First Methodist Houston encourages those who experience a loss to contact the church so we may support you in the healing process. We offer grief support groups on a seasonal basis, grief booklets that offer insight into the grieving process, Stephen Ministry (see related link on this home page), Westchase Crisis Care Ministry for immediate needs, prayer ministry, and pastoral support.
SUNDAY BUNCH
Join this group of widows for fellowship and support one Sunday of each month. It is a great way to meet new friends and cherish those you have known for a long time. Share your experiences with others and realize that you are not alone.
Downtown Campus: Meets on the second Sunday of each month, from 12:30 - 2:30pm, at a restuarant for lunch or we have a brown bag lunch at the church.
Westchase Campus: Meets on the fourth Sunday of each month. We go to lunch after Sunday School and then meet at the church for additional fellowship and support. Those who go to the second service usually join us from 1 - 3pm in the Wesley Academy Library.

CANCARE (CANCER SUPPORT)
First Methodist Houston has been a member congregation of CanCare since 1994. We have trained individuals, themselves survivors of cancer, who volunteer their time to support others going through the same or similar struggles with cancer that they have experienced.
To receive a CanCare volunteer for support for yourself, call CanCare at 713-461-0028. CanCare matches you with a survivor of the same or similar type of cancer that you have so you can talk freely about symptoms, side effects and concerns with someone who understands firsthand because they have been there.
You may request a CanCare volunteer for a friend by calling the same number and providing just the name and phone number of your friend. CanCare calls them that same day, as well as letting you know how they are supporting them.
If you are a cancer survivor, pray about becoming a trained CanCare volunteer.

FOSTER PARENT & ADOPTION SUPPORT
If you are touched by foster care, you will enjoy this group called Fostering Faith. It is open to anyone, including those who are fostering, fostering-to-adopt or are considering foster care or foster care adoption. For more information, click here.
