First Methodist Houston's Recreation Ministry has been blessed with over 60 acres of beautiful property which includes rolling hills, majestic pine trees, old oaks, and pasture land. If you have never been to McKaskle Retreat Center, come join us on "5th Saturdays" (in months that include 5 Saturdays) and witness the beauty of this special place. In 2012, these Saturdays are March 31, June 30, September 29, and December 29.
Just 45 minutes from the Westchase Campus this property offers a beautiful setting for a family outing. There are over 2.5 miles of trails to explore. The main lake is well stocked, so try your luck at fishing. The Boy Scouts have just built a pavilion and pier on the lake to make it easier for everyone to try their luck.
If you own dogs, bring them along; there are pastures and cleared areas to let them run till their hearts are content. We have beautiful shaded areas for family picnics. Improvements on the property include a large covered pavilion with picnic tables and restroom facilities.
Bring a picnic lunch. The fish are biting - tackle is available, no license needed. BYOB (bring your own bait).
These "5th Saturdays" have traditionally been work days. The property has so much potential and there is a dedicated crew that is working to realize the dream for this retreat center. If you're trapped behind a desk all week, you might enjoy lending a hand. Whether you come to work or play, come enjoy a special place to relax and get away from it all!
No reservations are required, just come on out and enjoy!
Gates open at 8:30am.
