Like seeds planted in good soil, First Methodist Houston's women are growing in the image of Christ through a variety of Women's Ministry opportunities (Luke 8:5-8). We are an active group of women eager to serve God and His people as we grow in faith together. With God's help through prayer, Bible study, mission, mentoring, and retreat we can make a difference...each for the other; all for God!

BIBLE STUDIES

Women of the Word

Women of the Word is a Sunday School class for women of all ages.  Our time together includes fellowship, discussion and prayer support.

The group will be discussing Philip Yancey's What's so Amazing about Grace?  We will take a probing look at grace:  what it looks like...what it doesn't look like...and why only Christians can and must reveal the grace the world is reaching for.  Join us for much-needed connections, friendships, and encouragement to grow deeper in our relationship to Christ.

This class meets on Sundays at 9:45am in Room 213. Robin Milutin is the facilitator.

Tuesday Noon Bible Study for Women

The new DVD-driven study beginning on Tuesday, September 6 through November 22, is Beth Moore’s A Woman’s Heart. Beth Moore invites us to enter the sanctuary of our God and let Him reveal marvelous mysteries to us. We will be challenged to prepare our hearts, like the holy of holies, to become a home for His love and glory—a dwelling place for the Most High God.

We will be meeting Tuesdays in Fellowship Hall.  Lunch will be served at 11:30am, and at 12 noon, the Bible study will begin.  Rev. Jan Imig and Robin Milutin will be facilitating. For lunch or child care reservations or for information, call Brenda Kenney at 832-668-1879, or e-mail bkenney@fmhouston.com.

First Place 4 Health

“For I know the plans I have for you” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.  When you pray, I will listen.  If you look for me in earnest, you will find me.” Jeremiah 29:11,12

First Place 4 Health is a complete Christ-centered weight loss/ healthy living program, emphasizes balance in the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual areas of life. Celebrate Success, our new study, promises to help us discover ways to celebrate our lives and victories in a way that glorifies God. For those who strive to live a milestones life pleasing to God, celebrating success can be a daily experience, not just an isolated event. In God’s kingdom, celebration is always intended to reaffirm the commitment to a life lived in conformity to God’s Word, which always gives reason for celebration regardless of the occasion!

The rollercoaster ride up and down the scales is about to end.  When we open our hearts to God's will for our lives, we'll be blessed in ways we never imagined! This twelve-week program continues through November. Registration is required. The fee, $20, covers the class and the study book. Meeting day is Monday at 12 Noon. To register for the class or for information call Pam Horne at 713-385-7559.

MOM 2 MOM

A new group for mothers.

Mom2Mom, a group of ladies with children, at this point, with children ranging from 4 months to 12 years, will meet on the first and third Tuesdays each month at 10:30am in the Theological Library.

This group of mothers will be discussing Angela Thomas’ Living Your Life as a Beautiful Offering.   In this study, Angela Thomas uses the Sermon on the Mount to call women to a more passionate life in Christ, a place of rest in the presence of God, and an understanding that our lives--broken, tarnished, or torn—can still become a beautiful offering. Amy Garner and Robin Milutin will be facilitators. This study begins on September 20.

Childcare will be provided by reservation. Contact Brenda at: bkenney@fmhouston.com or  832-668-1879.
